Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group, an NY-based real estate broker was started by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran then exited the business. Corcoran was one of the original Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had signed 53 deals. The largest of these was a $350,000 investment to Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was the second child of 10 children born to a working class Irish-Catholic couple in Edgewater, New Jersey. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a household worker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Her family often relied on free food deliveries from a local grocer. Corcoran remembers her father as an alcohol-dependent drunkard who often treated her mother with disrespect and disrespect, especially when having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school in her community and started the high school year at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in several classes during her first year. She transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
